It’s been almost five years since I’ve touched this blog, so long that I forgot how to log into it. I’ve seen such a surge lately of people who used to blog but kind of abandoned it for the ease of social media, or even newsletter platforms like Substack, who are now returning to a space where they themselves own and control their content. I’ve even seen Pinterest is making a comeback! Truly, what a time.
I have this quilt I have been working on through three winters now. I started it in January 2015, then put it away shortly after for other things. Picked it back up again last January, finished the top, and then put away before I did anything else. This January I pulled it out again. It’s becoming an annual tradition!
Little Alannah, daughter of our friends Colm and Adele, has her first birthday party in a couple of weeks. I decided to make her a baby blanket. Colm and Adele have a nice, quirky sense of humor so I thought they would like something whimsical but not super girly. I like homemade gifts, and I wanted to try something more challenging. I’ve never finished a blanket before. I love all these spring birthdays, they’re giving me a lot of great practice!
