I haven’t posted a playlist in forever. No idea why, I just haven’t. But I’m ready for spring, which has been a bit of a tease this week with freak snow falling yesterday after weather in the 50s and 60s. So, this is what I’ve been listening to. Still fairly moody and wintry songs, but with a little bit of irreverence thrown in for spring’s sake.
Another snow day today. I’ve been working on a Spotify playlist with some of H’s preferred dance-y tracks, plus some that I thought would make for a pretty great living room dance party. We tried the playlist out this morning, which led to her passing out on me on the couch like an hour before regular nap time. I would call that a success! Also, I have totally been listening to this playground all night, even though she’s asleep.
So I’ve been on a total Laurie R. King kick lately, working through audio books of the 7th and 8th Mary Russell novels. I love these books enough that when I get to the end of the series I may very well start over. They are perfectly English in all the best ways, witty mysteries with eccentrics, glorious details, tons of wit (my mentor Dee recommended them when I was in grad school). They are absolutely perfect during the chilly months of the year, but when we had our little cold snap here the past week or two (it dropped into the 60s!) I kind of had a hankering for them.
However, since most of my listening happens in the car with a certain toddler present, she has been voicing her own opinion about what we listen to. Loudly. And her opinion is that it’s too hot for intellectual genre fiction. She wants beach tunes, with the occasional song thrown in just to up her street cred.
These are the songs that keep her from yelling at me in the car, from her Spotify playlist.
I’ve been home sick for 3 days with sinus and upper respiratory infections that I just can’t shake. I am behind on life: planning birthdays, work stuff, life stuff, house stuff, taxes, Downton Abbey. And blogging. I had this great new organizational system going to keep my life on track in 2013, and that included planning out my blog posts. But, that did not happen this week. And since either Adam, H, Adam’s mom, my mom, or myself have been sick and here at some point since New Year’s, suddenly it’s more than halfway through January and I’m still playing catchup! So, this is my first playlist of 2013. It’s made entirely using Spotify, which Adam has me hooked on. I may never buy an album again. But I have to get used to this idea of adding music I already own to my Spotify playlists. This is good and bad. It means there is a lot of new stuff on here that is entirely random and just struck my fancy. But, I am also a creature of habit.
