This book is shouting, begging for me to read it aloud at school. The hilarious Michael Ian Black (also writer of last year’s Chicken Cheeks) teams up with my current favorite author/illustrator Peter Brown in a great story of a monkey who can read your mind. And you’re thinking of a purple kangaroo..aren’t you? Are you sure you’re not? You will be by the end of this book, and so will the kids reading it. It’s dynamite, a funny crowd-pleaser that begs for kids to chime in and laugh out loud. Peter Brown’s illustrations are smooth, colorful, and full of life. Definitely going on my next book order!

I read Chicken Cheeks a couple of weeks ago when it first arrived in stores. And I haven’t been able to get it out of my head because it’s hilarious. Hilarious in a way that sort of lingers with you. I read it and thought it was funny at the time, but then over the next couple of weeks I’d find myself randomly saying things like “Moose Caboose” and laughing out loud when I remembered the story.
