So the first things I’ve been working on for my Etsy store are coasters. Waaaay back in April of last year, I made my friend Maggie some coasters for her birthday. It was the subject of my very first post on this blog. I loved those coasters, and I decided that would be a good thing for me to make. But I wanted to speed up the process and do some cleaner, simpler designs to start with. So I’ve been working on all kinds of color variations and patterns, and these six are the first successful batch of combinations I’ve made. I’m really excited about them, and I’m becoming a little obsessed with coasters. They’re incredibly satisfying to make because they’re so quick, and they let me try different fabric combinations without the commitment of a big project.
I’m kind of becoming addicted to Etsy, so I think I’ll feature shops I like from time to time. These are shops I’m browsing right now.
I bought this Tree Stump Pin Cushion from Gracefell a few weeks ago. I love it and use it constantly, I was just too lazy to take my own picture of it and used the one from her shop. All her pin cushion designs are adorable.
My very good friend Maggie, who is from Missouri, has a very cool Brooklyn walk-up. Her birthday is next week, and since she just moved in to this place last fall I wanted to make her something for the apartment. She is a Southerner who appreciates homemade gestures. Her walls are cream, and she has sky blue accents and pictures of red barns on the walls. Very natural, kind of funky for Brooklyn, all Maggie. I decided to make her some quilted coasters, and I bought 4 plastic iced tea tumblers from Target to go with them.
