I’ve started a new quilt to give as a gift next month, using a jelly roll I’ve had in my stash for a while of Kate & Birdie’s Story Book collection for Moda.
Last week I asked for help deciding between a super simple Paddington Bear quilt and a more elaborate patchwork quilt for my very pregnant friend. Paddington was the favorite, I even got texts rooting for him. But I was still on the fence about such a simple quilt for a good friend, and then said friend’s water broke last night. And I hadn’t made her anything yet. So it was definitely time to rub some speed on this project. Babies don’t wait for my creative inspiration to strike, apparently.

I have finished the quilting on this one, now I just need to snip threads and bind it. This is the first time I’ve played with the Bernina Stitch Regulator, and I love it. Took a while to get a groove going, but once I did it was great. I just did a meandering quilt pattern all over in chocolate brown thread.

Finally, this quilt top is finished! I had to put this aside for about a month while work and home life got insanely busy. This baby will be walking by the time I get this quilt finished, but I’m getting back into it. I’ve finally pieced this in a way I’m happy with, I think the finished quilt be great.
One of the teachers at school just had a baby boy. I was trying to get this quilt finished for her in time for her shower a few weeks ago, but I ended up being home several days the week of the party. So I decided to give myself until this past Friday, her last day before maternity leave, to finish it and give it to her. Then she went into labor and had the baby on Monday night. So now, I’m just trying to finish it and mail it to her.
