December has come and gone. 2010 has come and gone, and now it’s time again to look forward to a new year. There was a lot of drama in 2010, despite my pledge to make it a more relaxed year. And I started a new job (which has turned into a high point for the year). I read a total of 344 books. I have to say, 2010 was definitely about life. There were some lows, but there were also amazing highs. And I accomplished everything on my list of resolutions, which is an absolute first for me.
- Focus on quality time at home with Adam. Don’t be so stressed about things that will always need to get done (laundry, dishes, etc.) I’ve felt really lucky to have Adam this year, and I can’t help looking at him and smiling. It’s been a strong one for us, and I have started relaxing more about every day things.
- Spend more time with my mom and my brother. That’s been wonderful for me, I think I’ve spent a lot of quality time with my whole family, including my
niece Grace. I’m feeling really strong and solid with my family this year. - Travel when we want to, not when we feel that we have to. Adam and I went to DR, we went to Miami, we decided to go see Adam’s mom for her birthday and had the best time. It’s been a far less exhausting travel year this year.
- Learn more about my town/neighborhood. Shops, people, places.
- Make things. I think my final tally of things made this year is very satisfying. I’ve loved being crafty this year.
- Relax. This is a tough one to call because I didn’t actually start on this one until about September. But I’m feeling so positive, in such a good place going into 2011, that I’m going to call this one accomplished.
So that leaves my resolutions for 2011. I think it’s going to be quite a year, honestly, so I’ve thought long and hard about what I want to come out of it with on the other end. Some
things more specific than 2010, and some things more undefinable. But all of it good.
- Set boundaries for myself and speak up.
- Make more time for my friends and my mom.
- Take up knitting/crocheting again.
- Make a pie a month.
- Learn how to make pasta.
- Beat my 2010 Books Read count.
- Blog more about books in 2011.
- Take one big vacation.
- Try 5 new quilt blocks this year.
- Take a cooking/crafty class, or learn to do something completely new this year (like sew clothes or make pierogies).
- Throw some parties. 2010 was a quiet year for entertaining.
- Manage my time better (I try for this one almost every year).
- Network more within my profession.
- Go back to yoga/treadmill.
So let’s see how we do.
