I love Purl and Purl Patchwork. That’s where I took my sewing class last spring, and I read their blog The Purl Bee religiously for ideas and inspiration. That’s where I got the tutorial for my Christmas Table Runner-which will get finished for next Christmas. I also love Spoonflower, who printed that sound wave fabric for me.

So I was over the moon when I saw this Purl Bee post about the wedding quilt of one of the co-owners, Jen. She made handmade napkins for all the guests at her wedding, and then she took the napkins and turned them into this Color Wheel Quilt from Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts (my favorite craft book, and written by her sister). But what I love is that they had Spoonflower custom print fabric for a tablecloth in their wedding theme, and they used that to make the back of this quilt.

If you are around me long enough and bring up weddings, it’s probably inevitable that I will tell you about the graphic designer who created our wedding stationery, the tower of cupcakes as our wedding cake, the flowers I was in love with, or the Hudson Hotel where we had the wedding. I fully admit that this can be obnoxious, and I’ve toned it down in the nearly 2 years since I got married. But my wedding was a fairy tale to me, and I loved finding new ways to personalize the day and make it feel like no one else’s wedding. So seeing ideas like this get me so excited. I wish I’d had a fleet of people sewing wedding napkins for me just so I could turn them into a quilt like this. And it inspired me to try new and fun designs with Spoonflower.
