We have some news—we are moving to Seattle this summer! Well, to the Seattle suburbs. An opportunity came for us to go, and we’re taking it. We went out in early March to look at schools and neighborhoods and fell in love with the area.
This was before H’s birthday, before her party. We’ve been thinking and planning for this move since February, and we wanted to go out and see and make sure we really liked Washington. I’ve been to Seattle once before, for PAX, years ago, but we hadn’t explored outside the city. We looked at schools, we drove around a few towns, and then we did some sightseeing. I mostly took pictures of the sightseeing.
Like the Pacific Science Center.
The Museum of Flight. Which was so inspiring, we really loved this one.
We spent an afternoon at Kids Quest Children’s Museum in Bellevue.
And we met up with a writer friend of mine and her daughter at Pike Place Market. We’ve been friends for years but had never met in real life before, and H took to her daughter, an older kid, right away.
I took a ton of photos, and I probably should write more on this trip. But we are so swamped around here. Decluttering and getting our house ready to sell, on top of work and spring break last week. And I’ve been under the weather for a few days, so this will have to do.
It’s a huge change, and we are so excited. I really can’t wait to get out there, with a clean slate and a new city to explore. But moving, thinking about moving, planning to move, packing to move, selling a house, is all pretty exhausting. And the main reason I haven’t been posting much so far this year. That’s probably not going to change much for a chunk of this year, but here we are. Next week is the 10th anniversary of this blog! So I will try to do better in between work and all the prep we’ve been doing.
Wow! Moving cross country is quite an adventure. Good luck.
