Memorial Day Weekend. We didn’t get to the beach, but we did cook out on Monday. We had some family over for sausage and peppers, corn on the cob, tomato salad. And I still had some sweet cherries in the freezer from last summer, so I made the first official pie of the summer season. Delicious.
As a Mother’s Day present to my mom, I bought tickets for H, my mom, and I to go see Sleeping Beauty with the New Jersey Ballet. They were doing matinee performances at Mayo Performing Arts Center this past weekend, and it seemed like a great chance for a first ballet for H.
Fresh fruit season is coming in the Northeast. I’ve still got blueberries in our chest freezer from last summer, and I’m working on ways to use them up before all the delicious new stuff makes an appearance. These were an attempt to create a cookie with fruit that H would eat. I don’t like raisins, and blueberries seemed like a great oatmeal cookie substitute so I hit up Pinterest for some recipes. And H loved them…except she just ate around the blueberries. Listen, life with a picky eater and food therapy graduate is a roller coaster of trial and error.
A lovely friend of mine had twins last week, a boy and a girl. I’d meant to give these to her at a quilt guild meeting last month but couldn’t make it. I made them using my own fabric crown tutorial, and I adjusted them to fit newborn heads. These will adjust from 13″ to 16″ circumference, and they’re reversible. Although twins are usually pretty tiny, so it may still be a while before their little heads fit them.
Human is having a $19.99 tee sale, and I picked some up to add to my warm weather wardrobe. Somehow my closet has evolved into an almost even split of fit-and-flare dresses and nerdy t-shirts. I am not complaining.
