A few of the teachers at school went as dominoes this year, and I think this is my new favorite costume! That’s my in the middle between our new speech teacher and our new art teacher. Music and a new 1st grade teacher also went as dominoes, I just loved this.
Mostly because, well…it snowed yesterday.
This is a sad dusting compared to what north Jersey and NY state got. I mean, schools are closed up there and lots of people have no power. It was a gross storm here yesterday, but we kept power. And this was the extent of our snowfall.
Last month my mom and I went to the opening of Brian Selznick’s “Wonderstruck in the Panorama” at the Queens Museum of Art. It was an incredible exhibit with a great talk from Mr. Selznick about the time spent studying and capturing the Panorama, a huge presence in Wonderstruck. And I was thrilled to go, I’ve sponsored buildings on that Panorama through the museum.
A couple of weekends ago Adam and I went to Eastmont Orchards for some pumpkins and apples. It’s only about 10 or 15 minutes from our house, and it was a beautiful day to go.
We got some news last week that an old friend and colleague of Adam’s had a stroke, and he’ll be in the hospital for a while. It was a shock; even though we hadn’t seen him in a few years, it was hard to imagine this vital man in his 40s having such a major health crisis. From what we hear the damage wasn’t as bad as it could have been, and we’re planning on visiting him this coming weekend. And so I’ve started doing the only thing I know how to do when there’s bad news: I’m making him a quilt.
