I’ve never done a Blogger’s Quilt Festival entry before. I always end up missing them, and some of the Philly Modern Quilt Guild ladies do them. This time I haven’t missed it. So the assignment is to blog about a quilt you’ve made recently, why you love it, why you made it, why it’s important to you. So I’m picking this one.
This was the Purple Quilt I made this summer for a very good friend of mine. She was 5 months pregnant, went into labor, and lost her baby girl.
I made this quilt for her in a week. I worked pretty much around the clock on it, getting it ready for the 1st time I would see her afterwards. Purple has always been her favorite color. And on top of everything else she’d just moved into a new apartment. So this was a really small gesture in the face of all that was happening to her and her husband, and if you look closely you’ll find a lot of little mistakes in this one. But it was made with a lot of love for someone going through an unimaginable thing, and I’m really happy I was able to actually get it done.
