The lease on Adam’s convertible is up in 2 weeks, and this weekend we finally faced the fact that we needed to replace it. Soon. And with something better in the snow than either of our cars, and with more cargo room than my Mazda 3 hatchback. We definitely needed something bigger, but neither of us was thrilled at the idea of a gas guzzling, environmental nightmare of an SUV.
I am really down to the wire on this one. I finished the last of my May bee blocks last night, and I’m going to try and get them mailed via machine today (are the machines available even when the post office is closed for holidays?).
It’s officially cookout season!
Yesterday we spent the evening with friends from my sorority alumna chapter for a Greek-themed cookout. This was the first gathering of an unofficial Epicurean club our friend Audrey is starting up. And it was such a good time.
I made spanikopita, two kinds. I’ll post those recipes sometime this week.
I also made this dessert with Greek yogurt, honey, walnuts, and raspberries.
I haven’t done any Mo Willems books with any grades yet this year. It has taken all of my willpower to hold on to them until the end of the year, when all my classes start to let loose with the sillies and just do things for the pure fun of it. Last year I did Mo Willems right away, and then by May I was kind of sad that I didn’t save them.
In April I began reading bug stories with the pre-k classes. April is a short month for us, so I only read a few books with them. Frog in the Bog by Karma Wilson (then we played a memory game using the bugs the frog ate) and Bubba and Trixie by Lisa Campbell Ernst. We also learned our new spring song, called “Bumble Bee.” The song is from Simply Super Storytimes, which I just used tons this year with pre-k.
