I bought this pattern last October with the intent of making the witch wreath, then the Santa wreath. But I was never able to decide if these were quite my thing, or if I was turning into the kind of crafter who has a homemade wreath for every season. I never thought that would be me. I’m still not sure it is.
But this year, I’ve been in desperate need of a project to jump start the crafter’s block I’ve had since school started. It’s been 2 months since I finished the ottoman, the last sewing project I actually completed. I never finished the school bag, and I haven’t quite gotten my head around the circles quilt yet. This is yet another reason I love October through January. The holiday season gives me tons of inspiration for projects. So I’m making this wreath. And I’m really starting to like it.
I’m not sure yet if this is for school or home. Depending on how long and arduous this project becomes, I might make two. This one would be for school, then I’ll make another in some fabulous designer fabrics.
So this is where I am so far. I’ve made and stuffed the body, and I’ve drawn the face on. I need to make button eyes, hair, the brim of the hat, and decide if I want to add that spider. For the life of me I can’t remember where I got that Halloween fabric, and the green has been in my stash forever. I’ve always liked it but always thought it was too ugly pretty for any of my projects. But it’s perfect for a warty witch.
Here are some in progress photos.
Cutting out the bottom pieces.
The top, bottom, nose, and brim pieces.
Sewing the witch wreath together.
Hopefully I’ll finish this by the end of the week.
